Environmental Grants Scheme

Due to the impact of the August 2022 weather event in Nelson, we will no longer host a general Environmental Grant round for the 2022-2023 financial year (1 July 2022-30 June 2023).

The funds set aside for the Environmental Grant Scheme will instead go to provide direct support for landowners and community groups impacted by the event, to help restore the health and resilience of our natural environment.

If your land, waterway or restoration project has been impacted by the August 2022 event, and you would like advice on what to do or how Council can support you, please email nelson.nature@ncc.govt.nz or call us on 03 546 0200.

Outside of supporting those impacted by the August weather event, we also have a small amount of funding available this year to help landowners of Significant Natural Areas (SNA) and for community groups controlling animal pests.
